Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Science Center is hosting an after hours adults-only event, inviting visitors to the US STEM attraction to “relive the roaring twenties” for an evening of drinks, stars and live music.
Dubbed ‘Speakeasy Science’, adults aged 21 and over can experience all four floors of the science centre after hours.
According to Carnegie, this is not a typical night at the popular attraction. “With no kids around, expect deeper science content, riskier experiments, and party games with your friends,” says the organisation, also encouraging visitors to “dive into the culture and science of the prohibition era”.
During the event, visitors will experience science in a number of ways, including speaking with a chemist about the science of distilling, seeing the stars in the Buhl Planetarium and listening to jazz artist Phat Mandee. A range of other themed activities will also be available throughout the evening.
Speakeasy Science takes place on Friday April 14 from 6-10pm. Two cash bars will feature, with food purchasable from the RiverView Café. Period costumes, says the centre, are encouraged with tickets starting at US$20.
