Attractions.io’s MapLayr technology is soon to be utilised across all Cedar Fair parks
Cedar Fair is launching a brand new guest experience app across all 13 of its theme parks, with the operator utilising Attractions.io’s interactive and layered mapping technology to add “flair and functionality” to the user platform.
At Cedar Fair parks, new interactive custom maps are set to be launched, with the MapLayr technology from Attractions.io offering layered views of complex attractions and indoor venues.
“Our previous maps were functional but didn’t convey the excitement of visiting our parks - that was a problem because guests rely on our wayfinding,” said Jim Denny, VP of Digital at Cedar Fair.
“In our parks, you can’t always just look at the map, find a landmark on the horizon and head straight over. People often need turn-by-turn directions and to follow the route on the screen to get them where they need to be.”
Attractions.io says that MapLayr offers “the ability to capture the unique atmosphere of each park”, with the tool supporting the guest experience with a platform offering high-end functionality.
According to exit surveys conducted at Cedar Fair’s Carowinds, where the technology is already in place, guests have said that the new maps and wayfinding are easier to use, with the software contributing to a better overall experience. These surveys also say that both new features are among the highest scoring in app.
“Our focus is on making every interaction with the map and app ecosystem a part of guests’ adventures at the Carowinds,” said Peter O Dare, VP of Product at Attractions.io.
“Our aim with the MapLayr integration was to create a wayfinding experience that delighted guests functionally but was also an extension of Cedar Fair's brand story, with beautiful designs and branded elements that look and feel like the in-person experience. We want guests to feel connected to the park from the minute they see the map”.
The Cedar Fair announcement is the latest in a year where Attractions.io is continuing its commitment to champion the guest experience with a host of new product releases in 2024. The news also follows the release of an industry-first in-app map with dynamic lighting that premiered at Alton Towers last year. Attractions.io is also focusing on adding more third-party integrations to the app’s growing ecosystem and offering enhanced support to integration partners in 2024.
