Born in Moscow, Russia, in 1981, Lev has become famous for performing in iconic Cirque productions, such as Saltimbanco, Varekai and Quidam. Her signature act combines the art of hula hoops with gymnastics and contortion.
In a new video, which is part of Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Cirque Class’ series, Lev discusses her 27-year career as a circus performer, which started at just the age of 12, when she joined the show Alegría. In the video, she breaks down every element of working in the circus and exactly how much work and dedication it takes to make it to the elite level.
“It’s a huge challenge but the result is so worth it,” she says. “Enjoy the ride. It will be bumpy, crazy, fun, hard, sweaty and painful, but so worth it.”
