Universal has revealed more details for its upcoming children’s theme park and resort in Frisco, Texas, including its name - Universal Kids Resort.

It was in January 2023 when Universal first announced plans for a park aimed at younger children, with the operator saying that its park would look and feel “noticeably different” from its other theme park operations.

Its first-ever park designed specifically for families with young children, Universal Kids Resort will be centred around a theme park made up of immersive lands themed around a number of Universal IPs. Each land will feature family-friendly attractions, interactive shows, unique merchandise, F&B venues and character meet and greets. The resort will also feature a 300-bedroom hotel themed on IPs featured in the park.

“Universal Kids Resort will inspire the unbridled creativity of kids through imagination, discovery and most importantly – play,” said Molly Murphy, president, Universal Creative.

“We’re designing the resort so kids and families can feel the thrill of being physically immersed in their most beloved stories and characters.”

According to Universal, Frisco has been selected for the project because of the city’s growing population and ability to attract businesses to the area. Frisco’s Mayor Jeff Cheney also added to this, saying in April that the area had “built itself a brand that is recognised now across the country”.

Work on the development is already underway following a ground breaking in November. Universal says the project will create thousands of jobs for the region, including 2,500 construction jobs.

Throughout the project’s development, Universal says it will “remain focused on ensuring the resort adds value and positively serves the community”.
