Industry veteran Bruce Vaughn set for return to Disney Imagineering

Bruce Vaughn is set to return to Disney Imagineering as chief creative officer, co-leading the division alongside Imagineering president Barbara Bouza

Vaughn held several leadership roles during his twenty-year tenure at Disney Imagineering

Bruce Vaughn is set to make his return to Disney Imagineering as chief creative officer.

Rejoining the division on March 20, Vaughn will co-lead Imagineering alongside its current president, Barbara Bouza.

During his twenty-year tenure at Disney Imagineering, Vaughn held several leadership positions, including chief creative executive and roles in R&D. After leaving Disney in 2016, he went on to lead Los Angeles-based VR company Dreamscape Immersive as its CEO and chief commercial officer, where he created virtual reality experiences for location-based entertainment.

Most recently, he served as VP of experiential creative product at Airbnb, where he led the creative team responsible for developing immersive stays and experiences.

“I’ve remained an Imagineer at heart, so I’m thrilled to join Barbara and reunite with this phenomenal global team of creators and innovators during this pivotal time,” said Vaugh.

Writing in a memo to Disney staff, Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, said: “We continue to invest in new endeavours that deliver the most compelling experiences, immersing our guests around the world in the stories they love most.

“In the past few years, we have found ourselves at the crossroads of a wave of new technology and a seemingly unlimited amount of new stories and franchises, allowing us to develop groundbreaking new experiences.

“None of this comes to life without a strong commitment to creativity and innovation by the amazing team at Disney Imagineering.”
