Creating Memorable Worlds: Imagineering veteran Theron Skees to release book on themed experience design

Disney Imagineering veteran and Designer’s Creative Studio founder Theron Skees has announced plans to release a book in 2025, with the work exploring the inner workings of themed experience design at the very highest level

Theron Skees has worked in themed experience design for more than 30 years

Disney Imagineering veteran and Designer’s Creative Studio founder Theron Skees has announced plans to release a book in 2025, with the work exploring the inner workings of themed experience design at the very highest level.

A Disney Imagineer for more than 22 years, Skees has overseen projects including the Disney Cruise Line, the transformation of Disney Springs, the Tower of Terror and the growth of Hong Kong Disneyland.

Sharing his vast knowledge of themed entertainment, talking about past projects and exploring the secrets of his creative process, Skees’ new book explains how themed experience design works from before concept to after completion.

Titled ‘Creating Memorable Worlds: A Journey into Themed Experience Design’, Skees says the book will help professionals within the attractions and themed entertainment industries to discover new strategies, to improve their craft, and to give them “the confidence to level up” their role. For students, the book will offer a detailed, complete picture of how themed experiences are developed. They will also learn how to collaborate within a dynamic team environment.

In addition to stories from Skees’ career, the book will also include insights from a collection of industry professionals, with Joe Pine, author of the Experience Economy, delivering the foreword.

“This is a book that encapsulates the expertise I’ve gained over thirty years working in the themed experience industry,” said Skees.

“I will take you through the fundamentals, the people and the processes that I learned while creating some of the most memorable experiences in the world. Then I will walk you through how to identify your skills and channel your passion into your own journey.”
