Attractions.io is set to launch its new AI Assistant at this year’s IAAPA Expo, with the technology created to act as guests’ go-to guide during an attraction visit.

Offering personalised recommendations and real-time support throughout the guest journey, Attractions.io has been developing the AI Assistant for 18 months, building on the idea that a connected experience enhances guest satisfaction and creates opportunities for operator growth.

Joining the rest of the Attractions.io mobile app platform, AI Assistant will utilise real-time data to tailor responses to meet the exact needs of customers.

Connecting data points including ticketing, wayfinding, menus, and wait times, the AI Assistant features a number of capabilities.

Guiding guests based on their capabilities, AI Assistant can draw on ticketing and demographic data when asked questions such as best activities. Working out if the user is part of a young family or a thrill seeker, for example, the AI will adjust its response accordingly, giving useful information tailored to the guest.

The AI will also be able to make dining recommendations, reviewing factors such as menu listings, guests’ current location, restaurant locations, and opening times to make the most relevant suggestion. If the user, for example, asks where they can get the nearest pizza, the AI will be able to work this out for them and provide a real-time answer.

Not only will the AI also provide instant answers, offering up-to-date and relevant information, but it will also upsell opportunities in a natural way. If for example the guest asks about wait times, the AI will be able to offer fast pass options or booking an experience instead. In this instance, the model’s offer is designed to feel helpful, not intrusive.

The Assistant AI’s capabilities also extend to preference. Remembering things the guest has said through their experience, the AI will know whether or not to recommend something, such as a ride or a specific food.

“We wanted to develop an AI Assistant that could understand guests' preferences and needs, using data collected from the entire guest journey,” said Mark Locker, founder and CEO of Attractions.io.

“When everything is handled by one system, guests don't need to repeat information or switch between different tools. They can find the information they're looking for quickly and then get back to enjoying their visit. Behind the scenes, operators can learn how guests experience the attraction and use that insight to drive operational improvements.”

According to Attractions.io, the new AI feature will reduce strain on guest services by answering simple questions. As such, staff will be able to handle issues such as resolving disputes and making a visitor’s day special.

“AI Assistants give operators the ability to enrich every guest's experience and make them feel like a VIP from the moment they step on site. It’s like visiting with the world's leading expert on that attraction guiding you through your visit,” said Peter O'Dare, VP of product for Attractions.io.

“With the AI Assistant handling queries and delivering that personalised touch, operators can focus on creating meaningful, memorable interactions, knowing that all their guests are getting that VIP treatment.”

The AI assistant is fully customisable, with the bot able to change its appearance and tone of voice to align with the attraction’s brand identity and values.

Attractions.io says it has always aimed to unlock the full potential of every visit. According to O'Dare, AI is key to delivering this for the next generation.

“Our priority has always been solving real-world problems for both guests and operators,” said O'Dare.

“AI Assistants are a powerful tool for delivering outstanding service at scale. We don’t see AI as the solution for everything. But we’re focused on using it where it can make the most impact - to reduce friction and elevate the visit so that every guest has a unique experience.”

Attractions.io will be showcasing its AI model at the IAAPA Expo 2024. The model will be in action on booth 4349.
