The Disney Dreamers Academy - a scheme providing mentoring and help in fostering the dreams of black students and teens from underrepresented communities across the US - has opened applications for 2024.
The news was announced at this year’s Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans, US, which celebrates black culture, inclusion and inspiration, when Disney officials were joined on stage by gospel singer Pastor Mike Jr.
Now in its seventeenth year, 100 successful applicants of the programme will receive an all-expenses-paid trip for themselves and a parent or guardian to the Disney World resort in Orlando, Florida, where they will experience a combination of “inspiration, education and fun in the most magical place on Earth.”
During the four days, attendees will attend in-depth workshops and education sessions where they will learn invaluable life tools, such as leadership skills, effective communication techniques and networking skills.
They will also learn about diverse career paths within business, entertainment and science, including career opportunities within Disney.
“Inspiring others is my passion, and it is also the core of Disney Dreamers Academy, which is why I’m so proud to affiliate myself with this programme,” said Pastor Mike Jr.
“I’ve seen how passionate these students are and I would encourage all students to apply or nominate a fellow Disney Dreamer for this once-in-a-lifetime transformative event.”
Applicants have until October to apply. For more information, click here.
