Following the success of Smash and Reload at French theme park Le Pal, Triotech and BoldMove have partnered on a new format of the award-winning dark ride - Smash and Reload Maxi.
Blending digital and physical elements into an immersive experience, the new iteration of the dark ride caters to medium and larger-sized theme parks and other attractions, with a throughput of up to 600 people an hour.
According to a release from both companies, the Smash & Reload format will fit into an existing building while media can be updated during and after installation. Using artificial intelligence, the ride will adapt to the player’s skill level, while high scores will encourage replayability.
The ride experience can also be upgraded with an interactive walkthrough that transitions the queue line into the pre-show, while an F&B option and themed retail complete the offering.
With the addition of Smash and Reload Maxi, BoldMove and Triotech now over three versions, also including the Original and Mini models.
The ride’s launch comes alongside that of Voodoo Festival - a second IP for the attraction that brings voodoo dolls to life as players act as “the last line of defence to save the Mardi Gras festival from their total takeover”. In the game, guests will have to throw “good luck bags” at the dolls to “break the curse and save the day”.
Incorporating different versions of the attraction, Voodoo Festival can be easily turned into a scarier version, with a darker mode pitched as a favourite for evening operations and Halloween events. Additionally, limited time content modifications will provide a VIP experience for both seasonal and corporate events, as well as family and birthday parties.
