Three Six Flags waterparks are set to receive major investments, with the plans representing some of the largest investments in the company’s history.
Coming alongside investments into seven new rollercoasters all to debut at Six Flags parks in 2025, the lineup includes new additions at Kings Island’s Soak City Water Park, a 30th-anniversary transformation of Hurricane Harbor Los Angeles, and the largest expansion in the history of Hurricane Harbor in Arlington.
At Soak City, a new dual-racing water coaster - the only one of its kind in Ohio - is in the works. Called RiverRacers, guests are sent down a three-story first drop before being propelled uphill through a mirrored race course of enclosed and open tubes and 180-degree high-bank turns.
In addition to the new water coaster, the Kings Island waterpark plans include seven new kids' water slides and a kids' splash lagoon, which will be featured in a riverside-themed play area called Splash River Junction.
Celebrating 30 years of operation, California’s Hurricane Harbor Los Angeles is receiving “substantial investment” that will see the waterpark experience upgraded.
Included in the plans, the “comprehensive upgrade” includes expanded shaded areas, seating, cabanas, and a wider range of amenities to boost comfort and convenience. The park will also receive slide and structure refurbishments, added landscaping and upgraded food and beverage options for guests. According to Six Flags, “every aspect of the waterpark will be touched, ensuring an inviting environment to soak up the California sun”.
Finally, Hurricane Harbor in Arlington, Texas, will unveil the largest waterpark expansion in Six Flags history in the shape of a new coastal-themed area,
Featuring a 58,000sq ft (5,400sq m) multi-level interactive kids play structure at its heart, the anchor attraction alone will include 110 water features, seven water slides and a 1,000-gallon (4,500l) tipping water bucket.
In addition, a seven-water-slide complex will include a mini-tornado water slide and mini-wave slide, while a new self-play Splash Pad will have 24 water features.
The themed area will be completed with new family cabanas, oversized umbrellas, junior-sized lounge furniture, refurbished restrooms and signature restaurant renovation.
“Our capital plans for the year ahead reaffirm our commitment to providing unparalleled thrills, immersive entertainment and unforgettable memories to guests of all ages,” said Six Flags president and CEO Richard Zimmerman.
“Whether you’re a diehard fan of record-breaking coasters and water slides, a food lover on the prowl for unique and tasty treats, or a lifelong devotee of over-the-top festivals and live entertainment, you’ll find something to enjoy at our parks in 2025.”
