An immersive touring exhibition exploring the world of sharks will make its UK debut at Chester Zoo next month.
Developed by Grande Experiences - the experiential design firm behind the ‘Van Gogh Alive’ exhibition - the shark exhibition features a 360-degree digital underwater display, as well as lifesize replicas of several shark species and the jaws of a prehistoric giant megalodon shark.
Called Planet Shark: Predator or Prey, the exhibition will take visitors through 310 million years of shark evolution as well as showcase the threats faced by these misunderstood creatures, such as the illegal shark fin trade and ocean plastics, and the global conservation efforts in place to protect them.

“This ground-breaking exhibition could not have come at a better time,” said Charlotte Smith, director of conservation education and engagement at Chester Zoo.
“Years of fishing pressures and misrepresentation have pushed many of the world’s shark species to the very brink of extinction. The launch of Planet Shark: Predator or Prey aims to showcase these incredible animals in a whole new light, increase people’s understanding of the threats they face and show how together we can ensure their future.”
The exhibition will run from May 25 to October 31, with exclusive member previews available between May 15 and 24. The zoo's ticket price includes access to the exhibition. Additionally, several ticketed after-hours events, called "Into the Night," will be held at the zoo throughout June, July, and August. Admission prices for "Into the Night" start from £10 (US$12, €11).
