MSC Cruises has unveiled Cliffhanger - a new attraction coming to its upcoming World America vessel that will give riders a one of a kind of experience as they swing out 50m above the ocean

MSC Cruises has unveiled a world-first attraction on board its upcoming World America liner - the only over-water swing ride at sea.
Dubbed ‘Cliffhanger’, the ride will make its debut when the ship enters service in April 2025 with the attraction sitting on the MSC liner’s top deck as part of the Family Aventura district alongside a range of attractions including bumper cars, a roller rink and water slides.
Cliffhanger, which has four seats, starts close to the deck, with powered arms then lifting riders up and out over the edge of the ship. From there, riders will be swung back and forth, with the activity taking place 50m (164ft) above the ocean. The ride, says MSC, is the only one of its kind in the world to be built on a cruise ship.
“It’s the first time we’re taking thrill-seekers out past the deck and over the water, and we know they’ll love it,” said MSC Cruises USA president Rubén A. Rodríguez, who added that Cliffhanger was the “natural next step,” following the addition of other attractions on its other ship.
MSC World America will become the cruise operator’s newest vessel following a naming ceremony on April 9 2025. In addition to Cliffhanger, the 2,614-room ship will feature seven districts, each with different theming, atmosphere, facilities and experiences. The ship will also run on LNG, a lower-emissions fuel, and is ready for renewable energy sources.
The ship’s inaugural season will see it set sail from Miami on seven-night itineraries, with the journey taking passengers to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.
