SimEx-Iwerks has announced that it will expand its range of Fly Ride and 4D attractions with the new Frostbite - Dino Island III experience.

SimEx-Iwerks’ Dino Island attractions are among the most popular dinosaur-themed rides in the world and have been thrilling riders in more than 30 countries since the mid-90s.

The new attraction is being developed in partnership with Italian attractions film specialist, Red Raion.

Continuing the attractions’ legacy, Frostbite - Dino Island III combines cutting-edge multimedia and ‘world-class’ storytelling with a flying theatre experience.

In the latest edition of the ride, fictional tourism company Dino Island Adventures offers excursions to Dino Island, an extraordinary island located off the coast of Antarctica. Dino Island is home to thousands of dinosaurs, which have been preserved in the island’s ice caves, and a long-dormant volcano.

Riders are invited to get up close to the frozen dinosaurs and explore the island. However, the tour is soon cut short when the no longer dormant volcano suddenly erupts, flash melting the ice caves and releasing the dinosaurs in the process.

Guests are then faced with a daunting choice: confront the dinosaurs or escape over a cliff.

“Our previous Dino Island films are the most successful, widely distributed ride films in our catalogue,” said Mike Frueh, senior VP, licensing and distribution, SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment.

“We’re excited to release this high-action, custom film for both our Fly Ride and 4D Theatres. The show will work as a stand-alone experience as well as a fantastic complement to dinosaur-themed special exhibits.”

“It has been a lot of fun developing the next chapter of the Dino Island story,” said Richard Needham, SimEx- Iwerks' Entertainment’s Creative Director.

“We want this attraction to really showcase all the best attributes of flying theatres and 4D experiences, from the ride dynamics to the environmental effects. We’re taking advantage of all the cutting-edge storytelling tools available today to make that happen. Red Raion shares our enthusiasm for this property, and it’s been a real pleasure working on it with them.”

Valeria Rizzo, business development director at Red Raion, said: “We’re extremely proud that SimEx-Iwerks has chosen Red Raion to produce the newest chapter of their successful Dino Island series.”

“It’s not the first time we have worked together: our collaboration started around five years ago when they chose our 5D movies for licensing, and we’ve also recently announced our partnership to provide them with Red Raion’s growing catalogue of licensed titles in fly format for their Fly Ride theatres. We’re glad that they decided to renew their trust in us, and we can't wait to show everyone the results of this further collaboration.”
