Plans have been announced to develop a ‘tent city’ in northern India offering visitors to the destination water sports and hot air balloon rides among the activities available.
The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department and Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly develop the attraction, which aims to boost domestic tourism in the city of Varanasi, as well as “achieve the top spot in terms of attracting foreign tourists”.
“After the construction of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, the city has witnessed rapid economic and social changes,” said the state’s Tourism and Culture minister, Jaiveer Singh. “The state government has planned to construct a corridor in Mathura on the lines of the KV Corridor.”
