Work on a waterpark development in Fargo, North Dakota, will soon start after project plans were finalised with final funding secured.

Called The Wave Water Park Resort, development company Epic is behind the US$73.8m (€68.5m £58.4m) plans, which include a 50,000sq ft (4645sq m) indoor waterpark and accompanying hotel with FEC.

Set to soft open in December 2025 before a full launch starting February 1 2026, The Wave waterpark will be the largest of its kind in the tri-state area and will be connected to Imagine Hotels by Epic. Featuring 135 bedrooms over four storeys the hotel will also feature a restaurant, lounge, meeting spaces and party rooms. The FEC will feature mini bowling and other family friendly games.

“This project has been the culmination of hard work from many consultants and the development team to find the perfect niche for the area,” said McKenzy Braaten, chief communications officer at Epic.

“Our goal has always been to ensure The Wave Waterpark Resort is a North Dakota destination location that gathers guests from far and wide. We can’t wait to see many smiling faces walk through those doors upon opening.”

Epic will be the owner and developer of the waterpark project, while the Wisconsin-based S&L Hospitality will handle project management. With the plans now finalised and loan funding approved, construction will start imminently.

The resort project is part of a larger plan by Epic called EOLA, a masterplan which is made up of The Wave Waterpark Resort, condos, commercial space, apartments and a four-acre park.

A groundbreaking event for the waterpark development will take place in the spring.
