Disney is celebrating Black History Month through February with a series of productions honouring the contributions of its black cast members, creators, fans and guests.
As part of this celebration, Disney Parks has released a new video on its YouTube channel speaking to Lanny Smoot, a research fellow at Disney Imagineering who recently accomplished the incredible achievement of receiving his 100th patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office.
“My mindset is to create things that are fun, entertaining, often surprising and, hopefully, a bit ahead of their time,” said Smoot. “At Disney, I can work on cutting edge technologies that are designed to make people happy. What’s not to like?!”
Smoot’s current record of 102 patents is the most to date from anyone at Walt Disney, with his work going into attractions across Disney’s parks portfolio.
