A local council in the UK has hit back at British TV personality Jeremy Clarkson, saying that his popular Diddly Squat Farm must be treated like any other.
The farm's shop, which has become an attraction in its own right after appearing in the presenter’s Amazon Prime series Clarkson’s Farm, regularly has queues out the door and many miles down the road, such is its popularity.
After scenes in season two of the show showed Clarkson clashing with West Oxfordshire District Council over planning rights, the council has responded, saying that proper procedures were followed.
“We understand that the planning process shown in Season 2 of Clarkson’s Farm can seem obstructive and that people will be confused by the planning decisions at Diddly Squat Farm,” said a council statement.
“As with any other planning authority, we have a legal responsibility to make sure that planning laws and policies are followed correctly by everyone to manage development and protect local communities and the environment.
“This is regardless of who they are and we treat Diddly Squat Farm no differently.”
