You might remember a few months ago a cleverly-edited video made it look like the Spider-Man animatronic at Avengers Campus had crashed into a wall. Well, you no longer need the edited version, as Peter Parker really did endure a crash landing, causing some damage to Avengers Campus in the process.
As the stuntronic is launched through the air, it forgoes any of its usual movements, spinning through the air as Tom Holland ironically says “air bags, please” moments before it crashes into Avengers Campus, destroying some panels.
A helpful robot voice then declares that “the WEB facility is not equipped with air bags”. Holland (with pain in his voice) responds “ok”. As is Disney’s attention to detail, the attraction’s narration has been pre-programmed for accidents such as this. The show is also programmed in case the robot fails to launch at all.
“As with any flight, there can be some bumps along the way, but Spider-Man was back in action in time for his afternoon adventures in Avengers Campus!,” said a Disney statement.
According to reports, the show briefly stopped before reopening a couple of hours later in full working order. The stuntronic robot was developed by Disney to ensure that no one - besides the robot - will ever be in any danger of being hurt.
