A new partnership between ZooTampa and the Children’s Hospital at Tampa General Hospital will see the development of several new wellbeing-focussed experiences at the zoo

ZooTampa will introduce several new experiences in partnership with the Children’s Hospital at Tampa General Hospital
ZooTampa has announced a new multi-year partnership with the Children’s Hospital at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) that will see the creation of several family-friendly experiences at the Florida zoo.
Aiming to enhance the health and wellbeing of both zoo visitors and hospital residents, the partnership will see TGH act as the zoo’s exclusive medical partner and sponsor several new activities and guest experiences, including a new family care centre, a wellness trail and an annual kids fun run.
“This partnership between TGH Children’s Hospital and ZooTampa offers a unique opportunity to bring families together to celebrate both wildlife and wellness, including learning about how they can prioritise their health while having fun together,” said Melissa Golombek, senior administrator of Golombek, senior administrator of TGH Children’s Hospital and the TGH Women’s Institute.
“ZooTampa is a quintessential Tampa Bay experience that is locally cherished and nationally recognised. We’re honoured to be their exclusive medical partner as they align with TCH Children’s Hospital’s passion for and dedication to children’s wellness.”
ZooTampa’s president and CEO, Joe Couceiro, added: “We’re proud to partner with Tampa General Hospital to inspire families to get out, get moving and make connections with nature and wildlife that create positive connections and enhance mental wellness.”
ZooTampa is also in the running for the US’s best zoo, with the animal attraction nominated by a panel of travel experts and industry professionals as one of 20 such attractions in the USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice Awards.
The panel nominated zoos based on the care and enrichment provided to zoo animals and efforts to facilitate interactions between animals and zoo visitors. Winners will be announced March 17.
