British theme park Thorpe Park is opening a brand new attraction in May, with a new VR maze experience based on the popular Black Mirror IP.
Set to open on May 21, Black Mirror Labyrinth has been delivered more than a year later than planned thanks to the lockdown restrictions in place for the UK and the ongoing effects of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Described as a ‘hypnotic maze’, the walk-through attraction challenges guests to keep their grip on reality as they make their way through an ‘unpredictable digitised dimension’, as cutting-edge visual technologies and sensory-defying environments combine to unsettle and displace them.
Based on Charlie Brooker’s popular Netflix series, which examines modern society, particularly with regard to the unanticipated consequences of new technologies, the Black Mirror attraction will be a world-first live experience based on the IP and will replace The Walking Dead: Living Nightmare maze.
“This twisted, sensory-defying maze puts you at the core of the Black Mirror universe and wants to keep you there,” said Thorpe Park in a statement. “Escape Black Mirror Labyrinth or lose your mind trying”.
