Geoff Chutter, founder and CEO of leading waterpark supplier WhiteWater, has been announced in the 2024 class of inductees for this year’s IAAPA Hall of Fame.
An icon within the waterpark and wider attractions industry, Chutter opened a waterpark in British Columbia, Canada, in 1980, building all of the slides himself. From there, WhiteWater transformed and grew significantly, becoming a global powerhouse in the waterparks sector, with seven regional offices and more than 500 employees worldwide.
Now delivering waterslides, aquatic play, surf technology and more, WhiteWater has completed more than 5,000 projects for leading entertainment brands worldwide.
Such is the company’s success over multiple decades, that IAAPA has recognised Chutter as worthy of a spot in its prestigious Hall of Fame.
Joining Chutter in this year’s class is Dick Chance, who joined his father’s company Chance Rides in 1970 before purchasing the company and taking over as CEO in 1985.
As CEO, Chance led the company through significant growth, including the expansion of its product line to feature its signature carousels.
ProSlide’s president and CEO Rick Hunter is also named as an entrant into this year’s Hall of Fame. Continuing to “drive innovation, share expertise, and uphold a legacy of excellence”, the 40-year industry veteran continues to “drive innovation, share expertise, and uphold a legacy of excellence” across the industry.
Having a global impact on waterparks and rides, Hunter early in his career developed the Mammoth River, with more recent innovations including the RocketBlast propulsion system.
Finally, Clark Robinson, a former president and CEO of IAAPA, joins the organisation’s Hall of Fame.
Spending decades working with IAAPA, before becoming president and CEO in 2002, Robinson dedicated more than 27 years of his life to IAAPA in positions including chair, vice president and treasurer. Robinson retired in 2006 and was instrumental in key milestones, such as IAAPA's relocation from Chicago to Washington DC.
“We could not be more thrilled with this year’s Hall of Fame inductees,” said John McReynolds, chairman of the IAAPA Hall of Fame Committee.
“These four individuals truly represent more than 100 years of influence and imagination that has resonated throughout our industry."
All honorees will be celebrated at IAAPA Expo 2024 during LEGENDS: A Hall of Fame Celebratory Affair on November 18th at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
