WATCH: Get a first look at Disney’s newest cruise ship

Wish fulfilled! Disney has offered a first look at the newest ship in its fleet - ‘Disney Wish’

New footage showcases the Cinderella statue at the base of the grand staircase

For the first time, Disney has offered the public a look at its newest cruise ship - the 1,250-cabin Disney Wish.

Joining the Disney fleet in Summer 2022, Disney Wish is the first of a new generation of cruise ships for the operator, with the LNG-powered 140,000-ton cruise liners able to accommodate at least 2,500 people each.

First announced in 2018, the new ship will be larger than the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy vessels, with a further two ships of the same size to come in 2024 and 2025.

New footage from the Disney Cruise Line shows off a rendering of the Wish’s Cinderella-inspired main hall, which features a statue of the Disney Princess located next to the ship’s grand staircase.

“Daring to dream even bigger, our Imagineers are creating a breath-taking new world of enchantment aboard the Disney Wish,” said Laura Cabo, portfolio creative executive for Disney Imagineering.

“Upon arrival, families will step into the Grand Hall, a veritable castle on the seas rising 3 decks in height and literally shimmering with regal details. Inspired by classic Disney fairytales, this space will serve as the majestic heart of the ship, welcoming and delighting all ages and setting the tone for a magical voyage ahead."

In line with other major cruise operators, Disney has been forced to cancel or alter its trips through 2020 as a result of the ongoing global pandemic. All trips are currently suspended until at least January 31, 2021, though this will not affect Disney Wish, which won’t set sail until the following year.

“Inspired by the beauty of a fairytale castle, the Grand Hall makes a bold welcoming statement, setting the tone for an enchanted family vacation from the moment guests step onboard the Disney Wish,” said Jonathan Frontado, Public Relations director for Disney Cruise Line.

“It’s an idyllic setting for Cinderella, whose timeless story is the perfect example of magic transforming wishes into dreams and dreams into reality.”
