Universal Orlando’s under-construction Minion Land will feature a fully interactive gaming experience, themed food and beverage, and numerous photo opportunities, with the operator revealing new details about the attraction alongside renderings of the development.
The land, which will also encompass the Florida theme park’s popular Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride, has been developed in partnership between Universal Creative and animation studio Illumination, and is inspired by the studio’s popular Minions franchise.
The land will feature a host of new experiences, anchored by Villain-Con Minion Blast - an interactive attraction that pits guests against each other as they are transported to the biggest criminal convention on the planet.
Armed with interactive blasters, guests score points by shooting targets as they make their way through the attraction on a motion-based pathway and try to become the newest member of The Vicious 6.
Also on offer will be a number of retail options, including Evil Stuff, where visitors can purchase Villain-Con and Minions-themed merchandise.
The land will also have a marquee dining venue - Minions Café.
Described as a “highly-entertaining” dining experience, the café features three themed areas - the Kitchen, the Breakroom and the Dining Room - and offers a Minions-themed menu, including Steak and “Cheese Ray” Sandwiches, Mini Boss’s Mega Melt and Agnes’s Honeymoon Soup. It will also feature an express window offering a limited menu for those looking for fast dining options.
“Minion Land is yet another example of how Universal Destinations & Experiences is raising the bar on immersive storytelling for the entire family using beloved stories and franchises often seen in films,” said Universal Orlando Resort.
Minion Land replaces the former Shrek 4D ride and is set to open in the summer.
