Universal Beijing Resort in Beijing, China, has unveiled details of its forthcoming Universal CityWalk Beijing attraction.

Scheduled to open in late 2021, CityWalk will serve as the entry and exit points for guests’ Universal experience, connecting the theme park with the subway and parking facilities.

It will offer 24 dining, retail and entertainment experiences, including an 11-screen, 2,000-seat cinema with an IMAX Laser theatre.

Dining options will include firm Universal favourites such as Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savoury Feast Kitchen, which will be the largest in any Universal theme park. CityWalk will also offer the first Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar and Red Oven Pizza Bakery to open anywhere outside of the US.

New additions for the Beijing resort include Cutie Cones Ice Cream, CityWalk Wubei Craft Food and Beer, and Neon Street Hawkers.

Interactive experiences will also be on offer with live music at CityWalk Wubei Craft Food and Beer and a hand-pour experience at Peet’s Coffee.

Retail options will include Harmay; a beauty and lifestyle brand, Adidas, Swarovski Crystal Studio, Pop Mart Global Toy Factory Store and the Universal Studios Store; a 750sq m (8072sq ft) retail experience offering merchandise from IPs such as Despicable Me, Minions, Kung Fu Panda and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

“As the starting point of every guests’ Universal Beijing Resort journey, CityWalk provides guests their first glimpse of the beyond-imagination experience they can expect at Universal Beijing Resort,” said Tom Mehrmann, president and general manager of Universal Beijing.

“However, CityWalk is also designed to stand as a destination in its own right, as a new high-quality recreation and entertainment option for residents and tourists in Beijing.

“We believe CityWalk will drive the formation of a new cultural business centre, giving a strong boost to Beijing’s economic development.”
