The Children’s Museum in Tucson, Arizona, US, is set to undergo a major expansion to accommodate more visitors to the popular attraction.
Operating since 1996, the museum has started to turn people away, such is its capacity problem, with the expansion expected to increase attendance from around 155,000 visitors a year to 255,000.
The museum says it plans to buy a building across the street to move its administrative offices into. This will free up space to be renovated into a gift shop and cafe, while the north side of the site will be transformed into a science garden.
Construction work is expected to start in April with the expanded museum open to the public later in the autumn.
