A new touring visitor experience looking at football icon and all-time great sports player Lionel Messi is set to make its debut in the US in 2024.
Called ‘The Messi Experience, A Dream Come True’, experience company Primo Entertainment and multimedia experience creator Moment Factory are behind the attraction, which will take guests “on a unique journey through the life of the legend and invites visitors into the game” over the course of 75 minutes.
Exploring Messi’s childhood dreams, guests will learn about the man behind the football as well as take a look at his numerous record-breaking achievements within the sport all the way up to lifting the 2022 World Cup and beyond.
Promising an immersive experience, activities will include digital on-ball activities with live score updates, AV installations and personal virtual engagement with Messi himself.
The Argentina star announced on his official Instagram page that the experience would make its debut in the US, which follows his recent transfer to Major League Soccer team Inter Miami. Following its US tour, the experience will then travel the globe in the following years.
"This project allows fans to get closer to my journey on and off the field,” said Messi.
“Throughout my career, I’ve always strived to inspire and connect with people through my passion for football. This experience will offer a unique opportunity to relive the most memorable moments and feel the emotions that have shaped my path.”
Messi has become a key figure in recent times for tourism and attractions. Despite his move to the MLS, tourism links with Saudi Arabia remain strong, with the star earning US$33m (€30.2m, £26.1m) a year for his role as a tourism ambassador to the kingdom.
Earlier this year, the footballer’s accommodation during the Qatar World Cup was turned into a museum after Argentina’s success in the tournament. There has also been previous talk of a Messi Experience Park in China.
The Messi Experience opens early next year.
