The Giant - a mammoth moving attraction and exhibition - has announced its first location, with the five-storey attraction coming to the American Dream mall in New Jersey, US, in January 2025.

Once open, The Giant will become a centrepiece for the mall - the second largest in the country - with the attraction standing 16.5m (54.1ft) tall and featuring a skin of LEDs, which means it can take the shape of anyone - from visitors to famous celebrities.

In addition to The Giant itself, the attraction will also feature The Giant Exhibition - a themed immersive visitor experience telling the history of the area and of The Giant itself, with visitors able to have themselves scanned so they can see themselves in giant format.

Once open, The Giant will put on an hourly display for mall visitors, with the statue able to become a famous person or character with the ability to move, sing, speak and recite lines. The performance will also be accompanied by visual and audio effects to enhance the spectacle.

“The Giant brilliantly represents American Dream’s commitment to deliver an innovative one-of-a-kind world class experience for all our visitors,” said Don Ghermezian, CEO of Triple Five Group, owners, and operators of American Dream.

“It will be a unique and spectacular addition to the centre, and we are looking forward to seeing our visitors become giants.”

At the 2022 edition of IAAPA Expo Europe, The Giant Company’s CEO and founder, Paddy Dunning, confirmed that versions of the attraction would be coming to New York, Miami, Chicago and Las Vegas in the US, with further projects in London, UK; Vienna, Austria; and Naples, Italy. Contracts have also been signed for to-be confirmed locations in South Korea and South America.

“When we launched the Giant project, we were sending a message out to the world,” Dunning, told Planet Attractions.

“We're here to establish partners and we're looking for sites all around the world to build this iconic statue and this iconic project. When we made the announcement, we got this flood of partners and potential partners and cities, councillors and people from the attractions industry that came to us and said 'come to our city - we'd love to build a giant.”

Dunning added: “We’re excited to build the world’s first Giant at American Dream. Besides the iconic stature of the attraction The Giant is devoted to the empowerment and development of human potential. Everyone can strive to improve themselves and their communities, and everyone can aspire to become a giant – that’s the American Dream.”
