Sixteen people have reportedly been hospitalised after a drop tower plummeted around 50ft (15.2m) before crashing into the ground with force at a carnival in Mohali, India.
The accident occurred on Sunday (September 4), with 50 riders strapped into the ride, which suffered a currently unknown malfunction before smashing into the floor.
Footage of the incident shows the circular carriage hit the ground with tremendous force with riders flying out of their seats from the impact despite being strapped in.
Carnival organisers have blamed a “technical issue” for the accident. At least 10 people remain in hospital with back and jaw injuries, but all are stated to be out of danger.
