A new Barbie-themed attraction developed by Simworx in partnership with IP2 Developments and Mattel has opened at The Galleria Al Maryah Island shopping mall in Abu Dhabi.

Called ‘Barbie, Ultimate Road Trip’, the attraction is located in Mission: Play! By Mattel – a Mattel-themed FEC offering attractions dedicated to several of the toy manufacturer’s most iconic brands – and capitalises on the popularity of the Barbie movie, which has seen global interest in the brand skyrocket since its release in 2023.

Inside the attraction, riders are transported to Barbie World, where they race through the colourful landscape aboard one of six two-seater scooters.

The scooters, created by Simworx, are equipped with 2DOF motion bases, steering and an accelerator pedal, as well as buttons that allow riders to interact with the onscreen action.

“It’s been a real honour to work with IP2 Developments, and as industry leaders for the design and manufacturing of media-based attractions, we’re really excited to bring the Barbie brand into a new interactive format,” said Simworx CEO, Terry Monkton.

Barbie, Ultimate Road Trip will likely open at several locations in the coming years as Mattel expands its Mission: Play! By Mattel operations.
