Shanghai Disney Resort set to partially reopen following Covid lockdowns

Shanghai Disney Resort has said that it will reopen some retail and park areas from Friday but the main Disneyland park, Disneytown and its two resort hotels will remain closed until further notice.

Shanghai Disney Resort has said that it will reopen some retail and park areas from Friday but the main Disneyland park, Disneytown and its two resort hotels will remain closed until further notice.

“Wishing Star Park, the World of Disney Store and Blue Sky Boulevard will resume operations on June 10, 2022,” said Disney in a statement released earlier today.

“Shanghai Disneyland, Disneytown and the two resort hotels remain closed until further notice as the resort team continues to prepare for the reopening of the entire resort.”

Shanghai Disney closed its doors on March 21 after a government-ordered lockdown saw the Shanghai region completely shut down for more than two months. The city eased many restrictions last week, after confining most of its 25 million residents to their homes as China battled its worst Covid outbreak since the start of the pandemic. Many citizens however still remain under restrictions thanks to the country’s stringent zero-Covid approach.
