STEM meets Imagineering with recreation of Expedition Everest's mighty Yeti

One Twitter user has taken lessons learned from Imagineering in a Box - Disney Imagineering's free, online educational curriculum from the Kahn Academy - to recreate the Yeti at Animal Kingdom using just Lego, wool and modelling clay.

The Yeti is the largest and most complex audio-animatronic figure ever built by Walt Disney Imagineering. Standing 25ftt (7.6m) tall, the Yeti's "skin" measures 1,000sq ft (93sq m), and is held in place by 1,000 snaps and 250 zippers. Its movement is controlled by 19 actuators when functioning in its full mode of operation. In "A-mode," it can move 5ft (1.5m) horizontally and 18in (46 cm) vertically. The yeti's roars are provided by voice actor Fred Tatasciore, famous for his work as the Hulk in numerous animated shows and films.

Following completion of the Imagineering in a Box course, Twitter user @car_juank, also known as JC, has built a smaller moving version of the signature beast from Animal Kingdom's Expedition Everest coaster. Check it out below.
