A new videogame featuring Europa-Park’s mascots Ed and Edda is the latest in a series of announcements that will see the characters expand beyond the park’s borders as part of a major project utilising the IP across multiple formats, also including a new ride experience and a major motion picture release.

Set for release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2025, ‘Ed & Edda: Grand Prix - Racing Champions’ is being developed by Tivola Games in partnership with Europa-Park and Mack Magic.

Featuring eight playable characters, players will be able to race across 12 racetracks in landmark European locations. In the game, they will also be able to tune-up their cars, upgrade their character’s cosmetics and customise the appearance of the car itself.

The game will feature a split screen mode for local multiplayer, with up to four people able to play at a time in the family-friendly racing game.

The game’s launch comes alongside that of the 2025 release of Grand Prix of Europe, a film set to be released in markets worldwide and in multiple languages being co-produced by Mack Magic and Warner Bros Film Productions Germany.

Not only are the film and a videogame currently in production, but Europa-Park will tie the whole project together by launching a new interactive family attraction based on the feature film, which will open at the German theme park in 2025.

“With Tivola Games, we are excited to have strong partners who believe in our Ed & Edda storyworld by bringing the beloved characters to PCs and consoles worldwide,” said Michael Mack, managing partner at Europa-Park.

“This will make the first feature film with the beloved Europa-Park mascots Ed & Edda more than just a movie: Together with the new associated family attraction 2025 at Europa-Park, the video game Ed & Edda: Grand Prix – Racing Champions and many other licensed products, it is the start of a very unique transmedia project. With our transmedia strategy, we are convinced that we will build a long-term sustainable brand with content based around our characters.”
