Magic Mike Live is set to return to London in 2021, after the show, like many others, was forced to close as a result of the ongoing pandemic.
Based on the hit-movie franchise, the show has been described as a ‘scorching, immersive, dance and acrobatic spectacular’.
The show will take guests inside the film’s iconic strip club, where audiences will experience a 360-degree display of dance and acrobatics, presented by performers from around the world.
The show comes from the mind of Magic Mike actor, Channing Tatum, who worked in partnership with David Ian Productions.
As well as returning to London on April 16, 2021, the new version of the show, featuring new songs and dance sequences, is set to debut in Sydney, Australia, next month.
“We’ve been working to develop a show that prioritises the safety of our employees and guests but also manages to be as fun, electric and unexpected as ever,” said the show’s executive producer Vincent Marini.
"We will be making several changes to the show that will debut in April. In addition to adding a new dance number at the beginning of the show, we will add a new serenade number, which is our big concert-style musical number in the show, completely re-choreographing the aerial number in the show and turning it into a duet, updating the tap-dance number, and adding new members to the cast to join some of our best-loved performers. We will also be updating the script.
In regards to social distancing and COVID, we will have two different versions of the show prepared for our reopening in April, one with and one without social distancing measures in place, and we’ll be ready to implement whichever is necessary at that time.
While it’s been a creative challenge to make changes to the show we all love so much, we believe that the finished product, which we’re first launching in Sydney next month, will bring a great deal of joy to London at a time when it is sorely needed.
We’re going to make the show’s return to the Hippodrome - after 13 long months away - absolutely epic.”
Magic Mike Live is co-directed by Channing Tatum and Alison Faulk, with choreography by Luke Broadlick, Teresa Espinosa and Alison Faulk. Aerial choreography and aerial apparatus design has been provided by Dreya Weber.
Tickets for the new production went on sale today (December 4).
