Called The Trequartista: Art and Football United, the first installment will see Mata work with the German-Indian artist Tino Sehgal on a new piece of performance art.
The Trequartista series will continue in Manchester until 2025 with projects both inside and outside of art galleries. Once concluded, the series will pair 11 different footballers with 11 artists. The next pairing of artists and footballers will be announced later in the summer.
