Jakob Wahl announced as IAAPA’s new EVP and COO

IAAPA has named Jakob Wahl its new executive vice president and chief operating officer, with Wahl set to oversee the regional operations of the global association for the attractions industry and global sales effective November 1

Jakob Wahl has significant pedigree within IAAPA, having spent more than nine years with the global organisation

Jakob Wahl has a new position in IAAPA, with the industry veteran taking up the role of executive vice president and COO for the global attractions body.

Wahl, who has been with IAAPA for a total of nine years, started at IAAPA as program manager in 2009, serving the association for four years in its Brussels office.

He then left for a period to take up the position of director of communications for Germany’s Europa-Park before returning to IAAPA in 2017 as its vice president and executive director of IAAPA Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

In his new role, Wahl report to IAAPA president and CEO, Hal McEvoy, directly leading the operation of the organisation’s regional offices, global sales, three global expos, and additional member events around the world. Wahl will also oversee the hiring and onboarding of a new vice president and executive director for IAAPA EMEA.

“Jakob is a dedicated and passionate leader who has increased membership and consistently expanded attendance and participation in the EMEA region’s events, including IAAPA Expo Europe,” said Hal McEvoy, president and CEO, IAAPA.

“As IAAPA and the attractions industry emerge from the impact of the global pandemic, Jakob is the right person at the right time to help us better serve our global members, understand the varying needs of our regions and help the association move forward to meet its goals.”

Wahl’s first major task will be the upcoming IAAPA Expo, which takes place in Orlando, Florida, between November 15 and November 19. Planet Attractions will be in attendance for what is IAAPA’s grand return to the US, with its biggest show taking place in-person for the first time since the start of the global pandemic.
