A new pop-up Stranger Things experience is about to open in two major US cities.

Opening on November 6 AKA ‘Stranger Things Day’ (the day in 1983 when character Will Byers disappeared, triggering the events of the first season) the Netflix smash hit will act as the inspiration for immersive retail experiences coming to both New York and Los Angeles.

Both of the 80’s-themed pop-up stores will take guests to Hawkins, Indiana, and the Upside Down, where they will be able to purchase exclusive merchandise, such as General Mills Stranger Things cereal in its original 80s packaging, Demogorgon action figures and products from the Starcourt Mall.

In-store experiences include immersive photo opportunities, with guests being able to take photos of themselves at the Hawkins Middle School Snowball Dance and in Joyce Byers’ house, as well as an in-store arcade, designed to replicate the show’s Palace Arcade, and a customisable apparel station.

“We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to let Stranger Things fans see themselves more in the show they love,” said Greg Lombardo, head of experiences at Netflix.

“This first Stranger Things store sends them right into the heart of Hawkins, in a truly immersive retail experience, totally stoked with 80s vibes and the chance to take home a piece of their favourite show with unique merchandise that isn’t available anywhere else. But be warned, you never know when things will turn upside down.”

Tickets to the experience stores are free but must be reserved online beforehand. The New York store is located at 200 West 42nd Street in Times Square, while the Los Angeles store will be at the Americana at Brand in Glendale, California.
