IAAPA names Service Award winners and Young Professional of the Year

IAAPA has revealed the winners of its Service Awards and Young Professional of the Year, with the winners to be honoured at this year’s IAAPA Expo in Orlando later this month

During this year’s ceremony, Arihant’s Rajen Shah was named winner of the Outstanding Service Award

As we head further into awards season, IAAPA has named the winners of its annual Service Awards, as well as 2021’s Young Professional of the Year.

Continuing a week where IAAPA on Monday (November 1) revealed its newest inductees into its Hall of Fame, today (November 2) saw more industry names recognised for excellence in a number of categories.

Starting with the IAAPA Service Awards, which honour individuals in the global attractions industry for their commitment to excellence, leadership, innovation, service, and safety, three winners were named, with Jason E. Freeman, Rajen Shah and John Mendes Jr all picking up the prestigious prizes.

Named winner of the Meritorious Service Award was Jason E. Freeman, corporate vice president of security, safety, health and environmental at Six Flags.

In the category of Outstanding Service, managing director of waterpark supplier Arihant, Rajen Shah was acknowledged for his service to the industry.

Picking up the Lifetime Service Award is Jack Mendes Jr, president of the BSR Group, who has been recognised for a career spanning 53 years and counting, more than 30 years of which he has worked with IAAPA.

In addition to the Service Awards, IAAPA has also named its Young Professional of the Year, with Chris Desch, general manager at miniature golf course operator Jen’s Links picking up the award.

All IAAPA 2021 Award winners and IAAPA Hall of Fame Inductees will be highlighted and celebrated in person during IAAPA Expo in Orlando, Florida, with the event returning for the first time in-person since the start of the global pandemic from November 15 to 19.
