Holovis has announced the latest installation of its 360Golf system, with the state-of-the-art technology teeing off at the popular British holiday resort, Butlin’s Bognor Regis.

Since debuting its 360Golf concept at the 2021 edition of IAAPA Expo, the product has been received extremely well by both the public and attractions operators.

A ‘reinvention’ of mini-golf, 360Golf offers seamless tracking and automated stroke-counting technology inside players’ golf balls, with the technology gamified to deliver a fun experience as they advance around the course. Developed in partnership with Adventure Golf & Sports (AGS), the product combines AGS’s 30-plus years of mini-golf design expertise with Holovis’ high-tech capabilities.

At Butlin’s, a brand new indoor activity centre, Playxperience, opened on October 7th, with three themed 360Golf courses included in the £15m (US$19.3m, €17.9m) development.

Across 27 holes, TechPutt offers the Vegas Course, Music Course and Neon Course. Combined with the technology, sensors trigger special effects around the three courses if players make a certain shot. Special ‘supershot’ bonuses and penalties are also designed into the experience to add to the challenge.

On the Vegas Course, “golf meets glitz” with the casino theme, with obstacles including the “Spin & Win” and a Pool Party hole.

For the Music Course, the sound-themed offering allows players to “tune up and tee off to a rock-and-roll beat”. The music course is also designed to be wheelchair friendly, with disabled guests able to use an adapted putter on the specially designed course.

Finally, the Neon Course is UV-lit, with each hole featuring fluorescent props and obstacles to enhance the visual experience.

Each installation of 360Golf is supported by Holovis’ advanced DeepSmarts data analytics system, which offers operators valuable insights into player behaviour and operational performance. The system tracks everything from player volumes and game lengths to high scores, course usage, and even maintenance schedules, ensuring optimal performance and guest satisfaction.

“With the successful launch of 360Golf at Butlin’s Bognor Regis, Holovis is once again demonstrating its ability to blend immersive technology with classic entertainment,” said a company release.

“The innovative TechPutt system brings a fresh and modern twist to mini-golf, making it a must-try attraction for Butlin’s family and Big Weekender guests.

“Whether you’re chasing the high score or simply having fun, TechPutt is set to deliver an unforgettable experience for all – tee-rrific fun awaits!”

Installed at a number of locations globally, in addition to its new location in Butlin’s, 360Golf is available to play at two Level X sites in the UK in Glasgow and Middlesbrough. The product is also set to have a major impact on the GCC region, with its largest ever set to opening there in 2024 - the first of 11 planned openings.
