A former cinema in Sunderland, UK, is one of three buildings set to be rebuilt at the Beamish Museum in County Durham.
A living museum, the attraction tells the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s, 1940s and 1950s.
The Grand Cinema will form part of a new 1950s town, which opened to the public in 2022. The building will include a number of the building’s original elements and features.
Work on the cinema, alongside an electrical shop and a toy shop, started last week.
“We can't wait to welcome visitors to experience a trip to the cinema and discover popular toys and the latest in 1950s technology in the shops,” said Rhiannon Hiles, Beamish's chief executive.
“There is so much to look forward to, with the completion of our 1950s town and work on the expansion of our Georgian area, including self-catering cottages and a tavern which will be starting soon.”
