Disney’s theme park division has a new technology lead, after the company named Gail Evans as its new executive vice president, chief digital and technology officer for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.
Working for American asset management firm Mercer for the last six years, Evans was named the company’s first global chief digital officer in June 2018.
Prior to joining Mercer, Evans held positions with Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Bank of America, and Eastman Kodak, operating at all companies in a variety of management roles.
In her new role, Evans will oversee a global team of more than 3,000 digital, data, operations, technology, creative, and product professionals. She will also manage the development and implementation of the technology and digital strategy and capabilities roadmap for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, driving innovative solutions and managing system strategies for its businesses around the world.
According to Josh D’Amaro, chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Evans’ appointment will see the company even further expand its technological reach when it comes to the division.
“We’re the best storytellers and creators in the world, and technology and innovation inspire us to explore a boundless future and develop groundbreaking solutions that continue to transform the guest and cast member experience in ways that only Disney can,” he said.
“Gail’s extensive experience positions her well to lead Disney Parks, Experiences and Products into that future – one that is increasingly driven by technology, more advanced and connected than ever before, and full of endless possibilities.”
Evans added: “For me, this is truly a dream come true.”
