The French government has now made it legally necessary to be vaccinated to access cultural events, theme parks, ski lifts, eateries, bars and most forms of long-distance transport - the bill was passed on Sunday (January 16) and will likely be in place by Friday (January 21).
An estimated 90% of the French population is now vaccinated but for the remainder (bar medical exemptions), they will be prevented from accessing attractions such as Disneyland Paris, the Louvre and other famous sites.
French President Emmanuel Macron has said that he would not "vaccinate by force" the remaining five million who had not had a dose, but hoped to encourage people to get vaccinated by "limiting as much as possible their access to activities in social life".
