Disney’s Big Thunder Mountain is about to get the Hollywood treatment with the classic ride set to be turned into its own feature film.

Originally opened in 1979 at Disneyland in California, US, Big Thunder Mountain is a mine cart ride set in a mining town where gold is discovered. The ride is among Disney’s most iconic attractions and would also be replicated in its Tokyo and Paris parks.

Amber Templemore-Finlayson and Katie Ellwood, collectively known as Bert and Bertie, have been lined up to direct the movie. Previous works include Hawkeye on Disney+ and Our Flag Means Death on HBO.
