An immersive experience taking visitors on a sci-fi journey through deep space has utilised AV specialist Christie to bring the vision to life.
Now open in Beijing, China, the Wonderland Science Fiction Exploration Hall at the ZGC Science Fiction Industry Innovation Center, the experience is divided into two themed offerings - Space Rescue and Space Dinosaur Base.
Powered using Christie’s Pandoras Box and Widget Designer systems, visitors engage in tasks and games as they work to complete their mission. Space Rescue tasks visitors with piloting a replica return capsule, docking with a space station, and restarting a control system at a biological base, while Space Dinosaur Base sees guests go on a chaotic dinosaur-themed space adventure.
By utilising advanced film technology and digital interactive tools, the attraction features a fusion of both digital and real spaces, creating an immersive experience tailored to younger visitors. Christie Pandoras Box facilitates the transition of distinct gaming scene effects, integrating multi-scene audio and video content with Widget Designer’s control algorithms, which adapt to various environments.
“This groundbreaking project is part of a larger initiative to develop Beijing’s burgeoning science and technology industry cluster,” said Daiyuan Wang, general manager of Beijing De Yi Jia Chuang, Christie’s Chinese supplier and installation partner.
“Choosing Christie Pandoras Box to drive the visuals in this facility was a natural choice, given its proven track record in delivering versatile and high-performance show control and playback solutions that create breathtaking visual experiences.”
April Qin, senior sales director for China, Enterprise, Christie, added: “This project’s success reinforces the value of our award-winning Pandoras Box media and show control systems, particularly in ensuring the reliability of software and hardware for entertainment solutions and live events. This success also instils greater confidence by Beijing De Yi Jia Chuang to implement similar projects in the future.”
Last year Christie played a part in Signal Festival, with its RGB pure laser and 1DLP laser projection technology lighting up a host of projection mapping exhibits during the event. Its projectors featured in four special exhibits, illuminating the city with fantastical imagery. Signal CEO Martin Pošta recently spoke to Planet Attractions about how the company illuminated the Czech capital with its technology.
