It was a first for Bournemouth on Valentine’s Day, with LCI Productions delivering a love-themed projection mapping experience to the coastal town.
The first permanently installed outdoor 3D projection-mapped show on a high street in the UK, the experience has been created to increase the number of people visiting Bournemouth during its off-season.
The 18x11m show - located opposite the Sovereign Shopping Centre - will play every evening at its Boscombe location, with new content to be updated through the year to encourage repeat visits.
A Show Control Computer and BrightSign Media Player ensure the content runs smoothly every evening, with remote dial-in capability for the LCI team. Eight outdoor speakers surround the projection-mapped canvas to create a full multisensory experience for guests.
“We’ve created a guest experience that is akin with what you would expect to experience at a theme park with the combination of 3D visuals and surround audio immersing the audience into the scene,” said Rob Paul, design director at LCI Projections.
“This is a fantastic initiative to encourage people to visit their local high street and the evolving show experience will keep them returning time and time again.”
