Disney World isn’t the only one celebrating 50 years, with one of Australia’s most popular enterprises - Sea World - turning 50 on Saturday (October 30).

First opening as a water-ski show in the late 50s, the attraction underwent a transformation in the 1970s to become a theme park showcasing dolphin shows, rollercoasters and the "aqua ballet".

Over the course of 50 years, more than 10,000 animal rescues have been performed by the Sea World team, with 50 million visitors coming to the attraction in that time. This hasn’t come without controversy, however, with modern views on shows including cetaceans changing significantly over time.
