Titanic Belfast has reopened to the public following a multi-million-pound refreshment programme that has seen the introduction of four new themed spaces.
One of Northern Ireland’s most popular visitor attractions, the experience has undergone a £4.5m (US$5.5m, €5.1m) investment, with the new galleries telling the personal stories of those who lost their lives when the Titanic sank in 1912.
The reimagined experience focuses on 'The Pursuit of Dreams' as its theme and will use immersive technology combined with the authentic Titanic Story in its refreshed spaces, which are called ‘Never Again; Ballard’s Quest’; ‘The Ship of Dreams’ and ‘The Lasting Legacy’.
A centrepiece of the new experience is an illuminated 7.6m-long (25ft) scale model of the Titanic, which is replicated on a 1:35 scale and boasts some of the main features of the iconic ship including the lifeboats, propellers, engine, cranes, bridge, main staircase and chimneys.
