The cat’s (almost) out of the bag at Eureka! Science + Discovery

Eureka! Science + Discovery - a new STEM attraction coming to Wirral, UK, later this year - has unveiled its first exhibit, a 12-foot tall cat statue.

The centrepiece of the attraction’s Home Zone, the cat statue will help to explore the science behind everyday sights and sounds, with visitors also able to discover the truth behind a cat’s nine lives, learn what a pet cat’s meows, growls, hisses, and chirrups actually mean, and even have a go at trying to catch a mouse quicker than a cat.

“Well, the cat is well and truly out of the bag! We couldn't wait to share one of our favourite creations with you, an exhibit we’re sure will be a firm fan favourite,” said Leigh-Anne Stradeski, Eureka!’s CEO.

“But we need your help, and we’re not kitten around! Our new furry friend doesn’t have a name, so we’re looking for people to help us out with suggestions on our social media channels to help us name the UK’s coolest cat.”

An initiative of Eureka! The National Children’s Museum in partnership with Wirral Council, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) and Merseytravel, Eureka! Science + Discovery has been funded primarily by £6.44m from the LCRCA's Strategic Investment Fund and a £3m award from the Inspiring Science Fund, co-funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and the Wellcome Trust with a further £500,000 invested by Wirral Council.
