Skegness waterfront to be revitalised after £5m plans approved

Officials have approved plans to regenerate the pier, theatre and seafront of a British seaside town, with the £5m set to see Skegness transformed in the coming years.

Officials have approved plans to regenerate the pier, theatre and seafront of a British seaside town, with the £5m set to see Skegness transformed in the coming years.

Funded by Arts Council England’s (ACE) Cultural Development Fund, the funding will be used to redevelop public spaces between Skegness Pier and the former beach chalet, rejuvenating the area for residents and holidaymakers.

The funding will support continued plans to establish the seafront Embassy Theatre as an international ‘Culture House’, with the aiming of bringing the theatre up to the standard of other national and international cultural venues.

The pier, meanwhile, will undergo the first phase of a multi-million-pound regeneration, which will see its restoration, as well as the installation of a significant new visitor attraction and cultural platform.
