Severn Lamb completes railroad project at Dayton’s Carillon Historical Park

World-leading visitor transportation specialist Severn Lamb has announced the completion of a new railroad project at Carillon Historical Park in Dayton, Ohio.

Designed to align with the overall vision and aesthetic of the site - a 65-acre park and museum that looks at the history of Dayton since 1796 - the 3ft gauge railroad is a customised Jupiter locomotive, which has been transformed into a faithful representation of the original Cincinnati locomotive from 1851.

The electric powertrain has been engineered to haul 150,000 lbs of train at 6mph along the 1.8-mile track loop, which includes gradients of up to 3%, ensuring seamless operation throughout the day.

“Severn Lamb expresses deep appreciation to Brady Kress, president and CEO of Carillon Historical Park, and the entire project team for their collaboration and trust in bringing Dayton's New Railroad to fruition,” said a statement. “The company takes immense pride in contributing to the rich historical and cultural heritage of Dayton, Ohio.”
