SeaWorld Orlando’s latest coaster offering is set to open to the public on July 7, with the B&M-designed Penguin Trek taking riders on a high-speed expedition through the wilderness of Antarctica to find real-life penguins.
Dubbed “the coolest research mission you’ve ever joined”, Penguin Trek is the centrepiece of the park’s redeveloped Antarctica Realm, with the indoor/outdoor family launch coaster themed as a snowmobile ride through a crumbling icy cavern.
On board, riders reach speeds of up to 43mph (69kmph) over 3,020ft (920.5m) of track with a double LSM launch and a series of twists, turns, and breathtaking moments. Not only a coaster experience, a dark ride element also features, with multimedia and special effects completing the icy spectacle.
As with all SeaWorld attractions, Penguin Trek comes with an educational conservation message. The queue is themed to be an arctic research base, while the end of the ride will see visitors come across a real penguin habitat - formerly the park’s Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin attraction.
“We’re incredibly excited to unveil our newest addition to SeaWorld Orlando's outstanding coaster lineup,” said Jon Peterson, president of SeaWorld Orlando.
“Penguin Trek offers a unique blend of thrills and education, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the wonders of Antarctica while highlighting our dedication to wildlife preservation and family-friendly fun. We’re looking forward to welcoming families and thrill seekers alike to experience the fun of this incredible coaster.”
Penguin Trek is SeaWorld Orlando’s eighth coaster, following the most recent addition, Pipeline: The Surf Coaster, which debuted last year.
